Week 5 in the MTC

Mi familia!

Yet another exciting week has come and pass. Boy, wasn't that fast?? This week Elder E and I were able to welcome in another new district into our Zone. It never gets old seeing the looks on brand new missionary's faces.

As many of you might know, this week is Mission President's Week. Other than maybe Christmas, this is definitely the most exciting week to be in the MTC. Not only did the largest group of missionaries thus far come in,(upwards of 580ish) but rumor has it that 10 of the 12 Apostles are to be here at some point or another. Let's just say I've been wearing my glasses quite regularly, just in case we see someone. We will be privileged to have a special Fireside* on Friday, tomorrow, that should include several amazing people. What's even more exciting, is that we get to meet with our new Mission President following the Fireside. Other than the fact that lines at meals are ridiculously long, life couldn't get much better than this!

Today, we met with the Consulate of Argentina. We aren't allowed a Visa for the country unless we meet him. Sooo... basically he's kind of vital to our missions.

Ohhhh, guess who sang in the MTC choir this past Tuesday? Yep, that's right.. me! I even sang bass. Crazy right?? Fortunately, there are nearly 600 missionaries in the choir. Also, our district was lucky enough to be blessed with nobody that is totally tone deaf. That's been a blessing in and of itself. At the Fireside, Elder Paul Sybrowsky spoke. It may have been the best Fireside we've had yet. He gave us so many wise words of counsel about missionary work. He then had his wife stand up and tell us of her family's conversion story. And if that wasn't good enough, he had one of the missionaries that baptized his wife's family bear his testimony. Best part of all: he asked 93 missionaries to stand up front. This was to represent the number of members of the family that had joined the church as a result of that one family that was baptized. It's amazing to hear someone tell about such tales, but to actually see something physical was surreal. The part that struck me most was something his wife said (in relation to the missionaries that found her family), "DON'T TURN IN EARLY." Yes, that applies directly to missionary work. But I feel that applies to everything in life as well. Whether, it's your profession or service, don't turn in early!

Well, guess what, I love you all,

Elder McMurray

PS For those of your that are lazy, never fear, there is Dear Elder. All you have to do is get on to DearElder.com and type. It's that easy.

*A "fireside" is a devotional-type church meeting.
