For starters, dad, I´m rather jealous of your experiences with Elder Oaks, among other General Authorities. I remember when everyone in my MTC district met Elder Oaks, other than elder Evanson and me. (Elder Evanson was sending a letter to his grandma....) Either way, I would like to think that those that don´t meet/see in person General Authorities have a greater faith... :)
The biggest news of the week (and posibly my mission) The Mission Argentina Resistencia is going to split!!! July 1st will be the official first day of the Mission Argentina Posadas. The mission of Resistencia will include: Formosa, Chaco, Santa Fe, and most of Corrientes. Posadas will have a little bit of Corrientes, Misiones, and parts of Paraguay. Isn´t that wild?? I sent almost 8 months of my mission in the ¨Posadas Mission.¨ Posadas will always have a special place in my heart. This truly was an answer to my prayers. I was feeling a little down lately, thinking about the areas where I have served. In almost all of them, there are no longer missionaries, or there is an elder as branch president. My greatest desire is for each of my areas to grow. Needless to say, with two missions and more missionaries, areas such as those will be able to receive much more attention. President Heyman is a man of great faith and abilities. We´ve almost doubled the monthly baptisms since 2010. (Fun Fact: In 2010 the mission had an average of 82 baptisms a month. In 2012 we averaged 127. In the last two months we are averaging 145ish.)
This week, Elder Posadas sets sail. It´s wild to see somebody that is three days away from being home.
FYI, Raul didn´t get baptized last week. But things are set for his baptism this week! Also, we are going to have the baptism of a little girl named Mariel. I haven´t mentioned anything about her because we found her two weeks ago. She manna for the heavens. The Lord continues to bless this area.
This week I read President Monson´s talk from the last General Conference. ¨Consider the Blessings.¨ It gave me a great chance to meditate over all of the blessings that I have in my mission and in my life. I truly can´t complain. The hand of the Lord has been in my life time and time again. If you´ve got a moment this week, read his talk.
From Rezzy,
Elder McMurray
